Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the new, old, new website. The sad news is that Intrinsic is no longer a band. The good news is, all of our music is now available for FREE on Jamendo.com. We've taken the tracks from our EP "The Cold Awakening" and added in a live recording of "One Sided Dice", a recording of "Helping Hand" from one of our practices, and a random acoustic song I discovered that I have named "Unfinished Business". None of the extra tracks were ever recorded properly, so they have been appended to the end of the album, just to draw a nice neat line under Intrinsic.

History

The band Intrinsic was started in 1999 by Andrew "Spode" Miller on vocals, Jon Clarke on guitar and Rory Milton on bass. As a trio we wrote our own songs as well as rehearsing some cover tunes. We only ever played one show with that line up, the Norton Knatchbull folk and blues night. Over time we stopped practising together and Rory has now moved on to some great things.

Jon then teamed up with guitarist Richard Williams to make a classic rock covers band. We completed that band with Mike Sylvester on vocals and third guitar, George Luckhurst on drums and Jon's brother, Chris, on bass. We played one show before Mike was replaced with Spode back on vocals. The band stayed like this for about a year, playing several local shows before everyone's departure to university.

Meanwhile, Broken Circles, a cover band with Rich, Neil and Nick playing Guitar, Drums and Bass respectively, was playing gigs in pubs and weddings in and around Kent. This band split up after 5 years and gave Rich, Nick and Neil the opportunity to devote more time to Intrinsic.

The final line up of Intrinsic was in 2002/2003 year at the University of Kent at Canterbury. For this time, the band concentrated on writing its own material, and won the much coveted "Keynestock" battle of the bands.

I don't play any instruments well enough to do much in the way of solo work, although I did experiment with some multitracked vocal covers, such as Fuel by Reculver and Scar Tissue by The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

I am currently working on an album with Richard Williams, which is more chilled out than the Intrinsic music and currently being recorded. I am hoping to work with Jon again in the future and work on something a little heavier!
